Wiffle For A Cause: Operation Food Search Food Drive
Schultz & Myers Personal Injury Law Firm was proud to sponsor a community food drive this past October. The food collected was donated to Operation Food Search in cooperation with the ‘Wiffle for a Cause’ World Record Attempt event on Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26. Volunteers signed on to become official witnesses of the Guinness World Record attempt at the longest Marathon Wiffle Ball Game in history.
‘We have deep roots in the St. Louis area and we’re employed by clients from every walk of life. Each of us deserves access to nutritious food and when Dave came to us with this awesome opportunity, we didn’t think twice about getting involved,’ said St. Louis Personal Injury Attorney, Stephen Schultz.
The first pitch took place at 9:00 am on October 25th. During the next 30 hours, two teams competed against one another in one of America’s favorite backyard games, all while collecting more than six barrels full of nonperishable food items to be donated to Operation Food Search.
Partnering with Schultz & Myers Personal Injury Law Firm and All Star Performance, Wiffle for a Cause quickly recruited the volunteers and resources necessary to put this world record event in motion. Spectators came out to cheer on the two competing teams, each named for their sponsors. In lieu of buying tickets for admission, fans were encouraged to donate canned goods as an entry fee.
Operation Food Search was kind enough to send us a tally of the total food collected at the event. In total, spectators and athletes collected 967 pounds of food! To put that in perspective, that’s $1634.23 worth of food–feeding 268 people for one day!
Additionally, Schultz & Myers placed a donation barrel at our St. Louis area location the week before the event. We ended up having to call Operation Food Search for reinforcement barrels after filling up the first one within the first two days! in total, Schultz & Myers Law Firm, and generous nearby businesses filled 3 entire barrels (405 pounds of food), which were given to Operation Food Search on behalf of Wiffle for a Cause.
- Pounds of food donated: 1372
- Value of food drive: $2318.68
- Number of people fed for one day: 380
